I grew up in St. Ives with my two brothers and parents by the Cornish coastline. Many summer days were spent on Carbis Bay beach looking out towards Hayle and Gwithian. As we got older, my mum and dad (Carol and Steve) worked tirelessly to get our house ready for holiday guests while we stayed in Gwelmor beach chalet. As a little girl, I didn't realise but we had actually bought into a little piece of heaven.
Fast forward 21 years along with a lot of love and hard work and we have three stunning chalets that have been designed with comfort in mind, you'll love the vintage and quirky seaside feel (mum is a pro at finding one of a kind bargins at the car boot!). Check out our chalets >here<
Despite the Caribbean like images we love to post it's not always sunshine here! And what with the storms we've had lately, Cornwall is cold and gloomy, and completely atmospheric.
Cornwall and especially St. Ives is the hub of a huge range of artists. Many of them are inspired by the sea and our environment. On a blustery Saturday we decided to venture out to Sharon's 'Sea Jewels Exhibition' and have a wonder around some of the shops. We treated ourselves to some of her lovely earrings.
“When you are supporting a small business, you are supporting a dream." -If you visit a gallery, buy a card even, it all helps!
We then went into The Painted Bird where we purchased a new throw for Kenmare (we're revamping our photos soon!). This is a must visit shop with a wonderful selection of plant pots, cards, cushions, jewellery and lifestyle bits and bobs!
It's really important to support small businesses, it helps promote a healthy and thriving community. While shopping online is so handy, nothing can replicate the feel and appreciation you get from picking up and looking at some thing hand made.
Phew, after braving the weather, it's time for a hot chocolate...
